[轉貼]IBM TLC 型 PCM：1000萬次寫入壽命

感覺上Flash取代HDD的時代又邁進了一大步。

IBM 最近在 PCM 儲存晶片上有重大的突破，首次實現 PCM 晶片每單元存儲3bit數據，
可以把它理解成 NAND 快閃記憶體從 1bit/cell 的 SLC 到3 bit/cell 的 TLC 的改變。pcm

 

IBM 這次研發突破是有關PCM儲存晶片，不過甚麼是 PCM？問問Wiki大神，
PCM（Phase-change memory），相變化記憶體，是一種非易失性存儲器裝置。
使用含一種或多種硫族化物的玻璃（Chalcogenide glass）製成。
硫族化物玻璃的特性是，經加熱可以改變它的狀態，成為晶體（Crystalline）或非晶體（Amorphous）。
這些不同狀態具有相應的電阻值。因此可以用來儲存不同的數值。它是可能取代快閃記憶體的技術之一。

也就是說PCM晶片是通過材料熱變化來儲存資料的，相比傳統記憶體晶片，PCM具備多個優點，
比如寫入次數可達1000萬次，遠高於NAND（TLC寫入壽命不足1000，MLC多為3000-5000，SLC多為5000-10萬），
速度更快，是NAND的50倍之多。

Fitbit vs Apple

Apple 吃掉了一些Fitbit Market share, 不知道今年的Apple watch2 會不會造成局勢的改變？另外，比較了Apple watch and Fitbit Charge HR, 硬體的質感與功力我覺的Apple Watch 穿戴起來比較舒服，但是以軟體來講，Fitbit整個大勝，不知道Apple 部門到底有沒有投入穿戴軟體的研發？還是都只開發API讓3rd party 來開發？

QSAN

這幾天研究了一下QSAN, 發覺他已經蛻變了，變得跟QNAP很像，網站，行銷文件，與整個風格，應該都是被Richard tune過。不過昨天在facebook上面的NAS 群組，說Richard已經回ASUS了，而且不是Asustor, 是Asus!
